FASHION giants Zara will be swinging their doors open to the public in Swansea later this summer. They say their unit at the new retail complex on Princess Way will be open for business at the end of August.
The Zara store will take up 1,500 square metres of the iconic new building at the former David Evans site and will be split up into departments for men, women and children.
Its opening will coincide with the launch of its autumn range and jobs at the new store are already being advertised.
Zara will be the second store to open up at the new complex and follows in the footsteps of Slater Menswear.
The overall retail complex stands three storeys tall and complements a near £4million Swansea Council, Welsh Assembly Government and European Objective One scheme to improve the appearance of the city centre that saw the introduction of new high-quality street paving, street furniture and street trees.
Developers Thurleigh are behind the Princess Way retail complex scheme in partnership with Swansea Council.
Cllr Gareth Sullivan, Swansea Council Cabinet Member for Economic and Strategic Development, said: "This new retail complex building has already added another edge to Swansea city centre and it's terrific that leading brand names such as Slater Menswear and Zara have committed to the project.
"This scheme will lead to more footfall and investment in Swansea and is a huge vote of confidence for the city in these difficult economic times.
"Feedback from Slater Menswear has been hugely encouraging since their launch and Zara's opening is eagerly anticipated.
"This news will help further raise Swansea's profile as the regional shopping centre of south west Wales."
